06 Apr Colorful New Construction
The new housing market is THRIVING in the Omaha area, which translates to brand new empty spaces that need to be filled with elements that transform a new house into a home!
Our clients built a beautiful new house with striking finishes, but their new living area needed some attention. The only pieces that made the move from their old living room to the new one were a coffee table and a side table! Practically a blank slate—so they contacted us for some assistance.
We created a design concept based on the homeowner’s love of a blend of rustic and modern. They were drawn to a primarily neutral backdrop with pops of color thrown in for interest. Here’s what we presented:
After a few tweaks that included adding a couple of rustic wood pieces to the concept, we were ready to get to work on creating a beautiful, inviting living room.
Since we knew our homeowners wanted a neutral color palette, texture was a key element in pulling this room together. Fabric choices for the custom furniture pieces were simple greys and beiges, but felt “nubby” and contained subtle color variation. The lines of the furniture pieces were simple and modern.
The inspiration for the color palette was a series of beautiful abstract prints, which provided of shots rich teal and fresh shades of yellow to warm up the space.
We completed the room by adding a mix of glass for shine, some wood elements for a rustic touch, and some elements of nature from plants and stone.
Our clients were so excited with the results, and it was a fun project for us too:
“You are very good at what you do! We love our newly decorated house so much that we would like to see what you would do for our kitchen and dinette next!”
